Swan Valley High School
8400 Ohern Rd.
Saginaw Township, MI 48609
Covenant Kids half marathon, 5k run/walk, and 1 mile will highlight several of the bay region’s nicest features. This half marathon is a certified course by USATF and is flat and fast for those of you looking to PR. Heading south athletes will pass through the Kluck plant nursery and follow country roads to the Saginaw Valley Rail Trail. Enjoy the wonderful trail system as you loop through the township’s countryside before making your way back to the high school. Without the gracious welcome of the Saginaw County Rail Trail and Kluck's Nursery we would not be able to offer such a scenic and pristine race course. More info on the Saginaw Country Trail here. 5k run/walk athletes will follow the half marathon athletes before taking a north on Van Wormer Rd with a quick loop through the neighborhoods just north of the high school. 1 mile kids and families enjoy a flat out and back “fun run” on O'Hern Rd.
O’Hern Road will close to vehicle traffic at 7 AM on race day. Alternate route: Access high school campus via Swan Valley Middle School on Van Wormer Road.
No vehicle traffic will be allowed to drive on the course while the race is in progress. Traffic control officers will allow motorists to cross the course providing it is safe to do so.
A “rolling road closure” will be in place between 7:00 and 11:15 AM by the Thomas Township Police and Fire officers, Saginaw County Sheriff Officers and Saginaw County Road Commission. After 11:15 AM, runners will participate at their own risk.
A 15-minute per mile pace must be maintained during the half marathon to ensure access to the course, police road closure protection and refreshments at the end of the course. Participants unable to keep up with this pace finish the course at their own risk. If you find that you drop below this pace due to injury or fatigue, please alert a race official or police officer for assistance.
Pets, Skateboards, bikes, rollerblades, skates and any vehicles (other than official race vehicles and registered hand cyclist participants) are not permitted in the half marathon per USATF guidelines.
Baby joggers and strollers are permitted in the 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. However, please be aware that there are some dirt roads on the 5K route that could potentially be muddy. All of the other exclusions in the bullet above apply to the 5k Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk.
